About Us

Be Still Mama is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization with a heart and passion to serve moms of all ages and stages of life.

Our mission is your heart. Period.

Whether you work, stay at home, have newborns or high school kids, Be Still Mama aims straight to the heart of a mom.

Moms have the hardest job in the world and we put so much pressure on ourselves that we rarely meet. We set goals and plunder them. We create meal plans and end up ordering out. We say we will take time for prayer and Bible study and we end up too tired to get up. Life can be so defeating, that’s why Be Still Mama exists – to let you know it doesn’t have to be.

Be Still Mama is a ministry designed for you to grow up and out. Grow in your knowledge of Jesus and grow in relationship with other moms. If those goals are not being accomplished then we fail, and we want to know! You are our priority, so don’t hesitate to reach out!

In 2014, after being in full time ministry for roughly 10 years, Leigh Anderson was laid off at 38 weeks pregnant with her second child. The transition from packed schedules and professional goals suddenly shifted to two under two, diapers, no sleep, and no friends.

Inspired by a local Charlotte, NC Bible study that Leigh attended during that season, God began prompting her heart to start a similar one.

After a lot of prayer and watching God move mountains, Be Still Mama was formed in the summer of 2016.

What began as a simple idea to meet to study the Bible and make mom friends in the summer of 2016 quickly exploded into a ministry that has served over 1,400 moms in its 4 years of existence through Bible studies, conferences, out of town retreats, and international missions.

Be Still Mama is not about numbers – and that’s the perception we combat. You are not one person in a sea of faces. You were hand crafted by a creative God who knows the deepest parts of your heart and is currently writing the story of your life – and we want you to know Him.

We look at that high response rate as indicative of a big need that moms in our community have – to be face to face with each other, hear the words “me too” and spur each other on to be closer with the one who created us, the one who gave us these kids, and the one who calls us to have a healthy heart rooted in Him.

Sometimes we need a hand to lift us out of the pits we make for ourselves. Sometimes we need a reminder that we are not the center of the universe. Sometimes we just need to hear that we are not a blubbering failure.

Be Still Mama is based on Exodus 14:14 “Be Still and I will fight for you.” God fights our battles, and when we give those battles over to Him, we exchange them for a peace that surpasses understanding as His peace begins to guard our minds, our hearts, and our interactions with the people closest to us.
